The Ecological Land Cooperative (ELC) is seeking a thoughtful, strategic and values-driven Finance Coordinator to strengthen the financial resilience of a pioneering land justice organisation.

ELC widens affordable access to land for ecological farming and low-impact rural livelihoods. The cooperative currently stewards seven farm sites, supports 18 small farm businesses, and is owned by a growing community of over 500 members. Its model protects land in perpetuity for ecological and community benefit.

Sound financial stewardship is central to that mission.

The Role

This is not a transactional bookkeeping position.

As Finance Coordinator, you will play a senior operational role at the heart of the organisation — ensuring financial resilience, legal compliance and strong strategic decision-making.

You will:

• Lead day-to-day financial management and oversight

• Produce clear financial reports for Board and governance circles

• Support budgeting, forecasting and cashflow planning

• Monitor financial risk and ensure compliance

• Translate financial data into insight to inform strategic decisions

• Contribute to long-term financial sustainability planning

About You

You’re financially rigorous, values-driven and comfortable working within a cooperative governance model.

You likely bring:

• Strong financial management experience (charity, cooperative or SME preferred)

• Confidence presenting financial information to non-financial stakeholders

• Experience supporting Boards or governance bodies

• Sound understanding of compliance and financial controls

• Alignment with ecological and land justice principles

You’re proactive, strategic and able to operate independently within a small, mission-led team.
